About the Artist
Magic City Hippies is an indie funk group hailing from Miami, Florida. Originally formed as a one-man band by frontman Robby Hunter, they gained attention by performing on the streets, blending old-school hip-hop covers with original tracks. After attracting a following, Robby transitioned the project into a full band with multi-instrumentalists Pat Howard and John Coughlin, officially becoming the Robby Hunter Band. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2013, features standout tracks like "Corazón," which hit number one on Hype Machine, as well as "Hard On Me" and "BUST." The album's success led to placements in popular TV shows like "iZombie" and "Ray Donovan," solidifying their presence in the indie music scene.
Playing at August Hall, a historic venue in Union Square, will provide an intimate setting for their vibrant and energetic performance style. With a capacity of 1,200, the atmosphere is perfect for connecting with fans, allowing the band to bring their lively indie funk sound to life in front of an enthusiastic audience.
